About HuskyADAPT

What is HuskyADAPT?

HuskyADAPT is a student organization at the University of Washington, Seattle campus that is dedicated to supporting accessible design and inclusive play technology. We train the next generation of inclusively-minded engineers, clinicians, and educators to help make the world a more equitable place. We do this through our three branches: Toy Adaptation, Design Teams, and Go Baby Go!

Toy Adaptation

At our bimonthly Toy Adaptation Workshops, we re-engineer toys with alternative activation methods to increase accessibility for children with disabilities. We then donate these adapted toys to families, clinicians, and others who need them. Toy adaptations are open to students of all majors, regardless of experience, and are a per-event commitment, we just ask you to sign up via Google forms!

Design Teams

Take part in our annual design teams where teams of students collaboratively research, iterate, and prototype solutions to accessibility and design problems brought forth by community members. At the end of the year, our teams present at our annual design showcase with UW CREATE. Our design teams are application based so stay tuned for when they get released this fall!

UW GoBabyGo!

Volunteer to help modify battery operated ride-on cars in order to provide mobility and socialization for children with limited motor function. These bimonthly workshops are a little bit longer than a typical toy adaptation and take place on Saturdays. GoBabyGo! is open to students of all majors, regardless of experience and is a per event commitment, we just ask you to sign up via Google forms.
